Multi-Cultural Day Trip

On Friday 4th November a group of our Year 8 and 9 Panjabi and Gujarati students experienced a multi-cultural day trip to Melton Road in the city.

After a short journey courtesy of Ausden Clarke coaches, the students were shown around the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir temple, were given a presentation and had time to ask any questions that they may have had regarding the building and its symbolism.

After 80 minutes they made the short journey to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara on Holy Bones, where they enjoyed another tour, talk, and some traditional langar (Hindu food).

After lunch the group boarded the bus once again and travelled to Melton Road where they experienced 10 minutes of magic on the 'Wheel of Light' - a 110 feet high ferris wheel.

They then enjoyed the commercial delights of Diwali in the multitude of multi-ethnic shops along Leicester's infamous golden mile.

All the students were exceptionaly well behaved and thoroughly enjoyed their experience.
